Want to know who the family behind Nicola Post & Rail Ltd. is? Then you have come to the right place! We are the Bertoia family - meet Brian, Bev and son Tony Bertoia...
A lifetime of experience and a passion for forestry led Brian Bertoia to open Nicola Post & Rail Ltd. in 1999.
Our mill is located on native land and Brian made it a priority from the beginning to employ members of the First Nations bands of the Nicola Valley. Our team has grown to 28 people over the years, many of them long-time employees.
In 2007, Brian was looking for more efficient ways to use up the raw material entirely and started the process of researching and producing premium wood shavings and eco-friendly firelogs, thus completely eliminating waste from our operation.
While Brian looks after the premium wood shavings and EZ-Burn Firelogs, son Tony is in charge of our post and rail operation.
It's the perfect job for this outdoor enthusiast, who loves to hunt, fish and trap in his spare time - he gets to spend all day outside, working with our great team. Tony grew up along with the business, learning the ropes during his summer vacations and now he's the go-to-guy for making any post and rail projects happen.
Tony takes the right steps to ensure success for our mill into the next generation and he's very passionate about our fiber supply.
Bev joined our team in 2005 and we're so glad she did!
Her official job description is "administrative assistant", but she is so much more. From payroll to office work and payables, she has all the paperwork under control, but she is also an expert at bringing generations together.
She understands both Brian and Tony like nobody else and manages to bring those "old school" and "new school" ideas together - thank you, Bev!
