As a small custom mill, we struggle with getting enough raw material to fill our orders and keep our doors open. Close to 30 jobs are endangered if we don't manage to keep enough fiber in stock.
In the pictures above, you can see a few so-called slash piles. They are leftovers, not usable for big licensees - and they are being burned, rather than making them available for us to buy.
While we are willing and able to pick these slash piles up - enabling us to keep our team employed and orders filled - it is a constant struggle with the Forestry Service, who would rather see the piles burned.
Making those leftovers available for us to buy would not only ensure that we can keep our doors open, but would also be much better for the environment - a cause we're very passionate about in our zero-waste facility.
